Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is my Rx Discount Card already activated?
Answer: Yes! Your card is pre-activated.
Q: How many separate cards do I need for my family?
Answer: One card is all you need. It’s valid for all family members in your household.
Q: How do I use my card benefits?
Answer: Just bring your card with you when you go to the pharmacy to pick up prescription medications. The pharmacist will do the rest and enter any discounts that apply.
Q: What types of prescription medications does my Rx Discount Card cover?
Answer: Most brand or generic drugs that are approved by the Food and Drug Administration are covered under the plan.
Q: How many pharmacies participate in the program?
Answer: More than 35,000 pharmacies nationwide participate in the program.
Q: Will prescription drug prices vary depending on the pharmacy that I use?
Answer: Yes. Different pharmacies may agree to different discount rates so it’s important to do your research. Call and ask pharmacies near you about the discount they offer to get the best deal.
Q: How much can I expect to save by using my card?
Answer: Savings that the card can provide from one drug to another can vary greatly. Savings may be as high as 20 percent on brands and 75 percent on generics. The average savings off the pharmacy's normal price is approximately 35 percent, but there may be times when a pharmacy's price is lower than the discounted price with your Rx card.
Q: What happens if I use my card but the pharmacist says I did not save any money?
Answer: Sometimes a pharmacy's retail price may already be lower than the discounted price you can get through the card. In that case, it is better to go with the pharmacy’s rate since the card’s discount would not save you any money.
Q: Are there any restrictions on who can utilize the card?
Answer: All U.S. residents may use the card. There are no restrictions and no exceptions.
